Lance Armstrong is well known sportsman, but he isn't just a great cylcist he is also an inspiration to everyone that is suffering from cancer. Lance Armstrong was born in Texas (Plano) in 1971 on september 18th. As a youngster he was one of the best triathletes competing from the age of 15, but he soon found out that his main talent is cycling. So he started competing in amateur races (won US amateur championship 1991) and went to Olympics in 1992 where he finished 14th. Unfortunately all his hopes were over when he was diagnosed with cancer in 1996 doctors told him that he only had 50% to survive, that was an ispiration the truth was he only had 3% to survive. But just three years later, after a battle for a professional team he won Tour De France in 1999 riding for american team US postal. But that wasn't his last from 1999 to 2005 he was always overall winner. In this time Lance Armstrong has won 22 stages, 11 time trials and 3 time trials with his team US postal. Today he is a part of Discovery Channel Team and he also runs a Fundation (LAF Lance Armstrong's Fundation) which inspires people affected with cancer. You all probably know this fundation due to bracelets that people wear as sign that they have contributet to LAF. Lance Armstrong is by opinion of many people one of the worlds biggest sportsman but he certanily is the best inspiration for people that want to survive cancer.
